Hannah Nowlan

'Chimera' is a powerful new body of work from Melbourne painter Hannah Nowlan, exploring themes of death, duality, mythology and spirituality.

Intangible spirits and sensory ghosts are an ongoing thread within Hannah's practice, however, after losing a beloved family member last year, her fascination for these long-held interests has taken on new significance.

‘I have only recently begun to understand that resilience and fragility can coexist. That a soul can hold the duality of being both bodiless and whole at the same time. This body of work has solidified for me the notion of ‘spirit’; something that can be felt but not seen.’

— Hannah Nowlan.
